To Kill a Mockingbird - Core Theatre

“To Kill a Mockingbird”

“To Kill a Mockingbird” is a coming-of-age story narrated by a young girl named Scout Finch, who lives in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the 1930s. The novel follows Scout, her brother Jem, and their widowed father, lawyer Atticus Finch. While Scout and her brother are fascinated by their reclusive neighbor Boo Radley, Atticus takes on the defense of a Black man, Tom Robinson, who is falsely accused of a crime. The trial reveals the deep south’s deep-seated racism, and the children learn about prejudice, morality and empathy through these events.

Runs through Feb. 15
Location: The Core Theatre, 518 W. Arapaho Rd.

A Murder is Announced

An announcement in the local paper states the time and place when a murder is to occur in Miss Blacklock’s Victorian house. The victim is not one of the house’s several occupants, but an unexpected and unknown visitor. What follows is a classic Agatha Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a second death and a determined inspector grimly following the case’s twists and turns. Fortunately, Miss Marple is on hand to provide the solution, at some risk to herself, in a dramatic final confrontation.

Time: 8 p.m. (Friday-Saturday), 7:30 p.m. (Thursday), 2 p.m. (Sunday)
Runs Feb. 6-March 1
Location: Richardson Theatre Centre, 518 W. Arapaho Rd.
