Recycling Delayed in Some Neighborhoods in Richardson Panhandle
Due to an increase in material because of last week's July 4 holiday, recycling collection will not be completed today in some neighborhoods in the Richardson panhandle. Crews will complete as much as possible today, but they will not be able to complete collections along their entire routes. They will start again tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. to complete collections before the end of the day tomorrow.

CARES Applications Open Monday
The application period for the 2026 Citizens Academy and Resource Education Series (Richardson CARES) opens Monday, July 13 and runs through Friday, July 31. The free, eight-week series is offered to adults ages 18 and up and provides participants the opportunity to meet City staff, learn about the day-to-day operations of Richardson’s municipal government.
Classes will meet Sept. 3-Oct. 22, every Thursday from 5:30-9 p.m., with a reception and graduation ceremony Oct. 26.

July is National PARD Month; Beat the Heat with Evening Hours at Richardson Parks
In honor of National Park and Recreation Month in July and in light of recent high temperatures, Richardson Parks and Recreation staff want to remind the public that all of the City’s parks are open in the evenings until 10:30 p.m., with several offering lighted amenities such as the following:

Additionally, the Heights and Huffhines Recreation Centers and Senior Center are great places to get out of the heat, work out and learn new things. And don’t forget, all City pools are open until 8 p.m. on weekends, with some open until 8 p.m. on select nights Monday-Friday.

Semiconductor Innovation Fund Grant Supports TI Expansion in Richardson
Texas Instruments’ continued investment in Richardson received additional support this week with the announcement of a $33.6 million Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant for expanded capacity and technology improvements at the company’s 300mm semiconductor wafer fabrication facility.
The grant is part of a larger project expected to total $700 million in capital investment at TI’s Richardson facility located on Renner Road. The investment will support additional production capacity and process technology improvements for analog and embedded processing chips, which are used in vehicles, smartphones, satellites, industrial equipment and many other technologies that support daily life.
TI has long played an important role in Richardson’s advanced manufacturing and technology sectors. The company’s continued investment reinforces the city’s position as a strategic location for semiconductor innovation, high-tech talent and long-term industry growth.
The grant was awarded through the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund, created as part of the Texas CHIPS Act to strengthen semiconductor research, design and manufacturing across the state.

City Hosts Annual Family 4th Celebration at Breckinridge Park
The City of Richardson’s Parks and Recreation Department successfully held its annual Family 4th Celebration at Breckinridge Park on Saturday, July 4.
The Richardson Community Band kicked off the night with its annual patriotic salute, with the night wrapping up with a 25-minute fireworks show set to music.
The City thanks everyone who attended and helped make the celebration a safe and enjoyable experience.
Network Seeking Back to School Donations
Network of Community Ministries is proud to be a part of the Richardson ISD Backpack Bash, helping connect local students and families with the school supplies they need for a successful school year.
This year's Backpack Bash will distribute 800 backpacks filled with school supplies to Richardson ISD students. The backpacks and supplies are provided through the generosity of Richardson ISD and community partners.
Community members who would like to support a Back-to-School event can make a financial donation at www.thenetwork.org/donate-today. Please indicate that your contribution is for the Tools 4 School. Donations of new school supplies are also welcome and may be dropped off at Network, located at 1500 International Parkway, Suite 300, Richardson.
Safer Streets Survey Closes Wednesday
Richardson’s Transportation and Mobility Department is seeking community input on the overall direction of its draft Safety Action Plan, which is designed to help create a safer mobility system for all. The draft was created following the proposed recommendations that came from community feedback gathered last year.
The survey is open through Wednesday, July 15. Community feedback from the survey will help shape the final Safety Action Plan and support in advancing transportation safety within the Richardson community.

Eisemann Center Monthly Art Exhibition Features Pieces by City Employees
Nearly two dozen pieces of art created by City of Richardson employees are on display in the Eisemann Center’s Forrest & Virginia Green Mezzanine Gallery throughout the month of July. The work features paintings, sculptures, textile art and other creative works. The gallery is on the Eisemann Center’s second floor and is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and during all public events. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Night Work to Take Place on Custer Parkway Near Greenside
Beginning Monday, July 13, residents near Custer Parkway and the Silver Line railroad tracks, just south of Greenside Drive, may notice overnight construction as work continues on the Cotton Belt Trail.
Construction will take place overnight each weeknight from 8 p.m.-7 a.m. Through mid-September. The work includes construction of the future pedestrian bridge over Custer Parkway. Because crews are working next to an active rail line, these activities must be completed overnight to minimize impacts to Silver Line rail operations.
Nearby residents may experience increased noise from construction equipment during overnight work.
The Cotton Belt Trail is a new regional hike and bike trail being built alongside the DART Silver Line. In Richardson, the trail will span approximately 2.8 miles, connecting to CityLine, the University of Texas at Dallas, and the city's existing trail network while also providing regional connections between Plano, Addison and other communities as additional segments are completed.
Traffic Switch on Custer Parkway Near Campbell Road
The Custer Parkway Reconstruction Project has reached another milestone with completion of the new northbound lanes between Campbell Road and the railroad tracks just north of Cap Rock Drive. On Thursday, traffic shifted into a new configuration.

Northbound traffic is now traveling on the newly constructed northbound lanes between Campbell Road and the railroad tracks.

Southbound traffic has been shifted to the new northbound lanes starting at the railroad tracks until shifting back to the southbound lanes at Copper Ridge Drive.
At all times, both northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained with one-lane of travel open in each direction.
The project is funded by the 2021 Bond Program.

July is Smart Irrigation Month
Although summer heat blankets the entire region, lawn care isn’t one-size-fits-all. Smart Irrigation Month in July is a reminder to explore best practices when watering your lawn.
It is important to water only as much as needed. Grasses and other plants are healthier when their root systems go farther into the soil for resources, making twice-per-week watering ideal. Still, it can be easy to overdo it, especially when regular irrigation is combined with heavy rain. Typically, most turf grasses need about 0.75-1 inch of water per week.
The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension offers a free tool to help homeowners determine their watering needs. The WaterMyYard program uses local weather data pulled from weather stations and rain gauges, combined with proven methods, and provides customized weekly water advice.
Mulching grass clippings and leaves is an optimal way to both cut down on yard waste and reduce the amount of water needed. Applying mulch helps retain ground moisture and nourishes the soil with nitrogen as the yard waste breaks down. A mulching mower is an easy way to create mulch; as always, mowing is not recommended when grass is damp.
Litter Cleanup July 18 at Breckinridge Park
The Sigma Alpha Epsilon Chapter from the University of Texas at Dallas and One Earth One Chance, in partnership with the City of Richardson, are holding a litter cleanup Saturday, July 18 at Breckinridge Park. Volunteers will pick up the litter with grabbers and gloves. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 8-10 a.m. (July 18)
Location: Breckinridge Park, near the woods and pavilion area

Animal Services Officer ($46,204-$65,549 Salary)
Animal Services is looking for an individual who can provide daily administrative and operational shelter functions, staff support functions, and customer service duties to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of daily operations in all areas of Animal Services. Completes daily work schedules as assigned by Supervisor. Works some evenings, weekends, and on-call as required. Performs other related work as required. Two (2) years (or 60 hours) of undergraduate college course work required from accredited college or university. Additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements. Texas Driver's License, Class C, required. Texas Department of State Health Services basic Animal Control Certification required, or must obtain within 12 months of attaining position. Must complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years. Must obtain euthanasia certification within 120 days of employment in position.
Crew Chief ($57,541-$80,347 Salary)
The Public Services Department is looking for an individual with experience in construction and/or maintenance of water distribution and waste collection systems. A Texas Commercial Driver’s License, Class A is required.
Gymnastics Instructor PT ($17.82/hr to $27.30/hr)
The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for individuals with who enjoy working with people in groups of various sizes and has a passion for teaching.
