The majority of surrender reasons are due to a solvable problem-we ask that you are open to finding resolution for the behavioral, time, life, financial, or housing concern you have run into. Surrendering a pet to the shelter

If you need to surrender your pet to the Richardson Animal Shelter you must provide the following:

• A valid state picture ID or driver's license
• Proof of residency in the City of Richardson (ZIP codes 75080, 75081, 75082)
• Schedule an Appointment to surrender

You will be asked to reschedule your appointment if you're more than 10 minutes late. No exceptions. 

Other items that may be provided but are not required:

• Rabies vaccination information
• Veterinary records
• Toys or blankets
• Microchip information
• Medications that your pet may be taking       

Unwanted Animals Fees:

• Adult Animals (6 months of age or older)
  • $20.00 per animal
  • $10.00 waived if pet is currently vaccinated for rabies. Must show written proof.
  • $10.00 waived if pet is spayed/neutered
• Puppies or Kittens
  • $5.00 per animal
