In February 2020, the City of Richardson conducted its first Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Engineering and Related Services. The intent was to build a shortlist of highly qualified, capable and experienced professional services firms to provide professional services for projects identified in the City’s Capital Improvement Program. Submissions were accepted in eleven categories: Surveying, Geotechnical & Materials Testing, Roadway Design, Storm Drainage Services, Traffic Engineering & Planning, Water Services, Sanitary Sewer Services, Facility Architecture & Planning, Parks, Environmental Services, and Specialized Services. After a thirty-day response period, the City received 105 submissions from respondents. These responses were carefully reviewed by City staff and narrowed down to a shortlist of seventy-one qualified firms. These firms will be signed to three-year Master Services Agreements with the option to extend for an additional three years. The City intends to conduct a similar RFQ every three to four years hereafter as workload allows and the need for consultant services exists.
