Centers Status: Closed

The City of Richardson opens cooling centers to provide temporary relief when extreme summer heat creates a risk to public safety, such as dangerously high temperatures, heat advisories, or prolonged power outages.

Service animals are permitted; however, pets are not allowed. Each location offers air-conditioned space and charging stations for mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic devices.

Information about cooling center locations and hours is shared through City communication channels when centers are activated.

Emergency Window Air Conditioner Assistance

Dallas County Health and Human Services offers a Weatherization Assistance Program – Emergency Window Air Conditioners for qualifying low‑income families. This program provides portable window units to help residents cool their homes during extreme heat.

Salvation Army Cooling Stations
