On behalf of the City of Richardson, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance Main Street. |
Estimated Completion: March 2026
Depending on weather conditions
Phase 2 of the Main Street Reconstruction Project will extend from Greenville Avenue to 150 feet east of Abrams Road. Construction began on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, with completion anticipated in March 2026, depending on weather conditions and completion of Oncor underground utility work.
The project will include:
- Dedicated Turn Lane: A new turn lane will be installed to increase safety of left turns onto Abrams Road and enhance access to local businesses.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Paving improvements and the replacement of water, sewer and storm drainage pipes and inlets.
- Accessibility Enhancements: Installation of barrier-free ramps at intersections to improve pedestrian access.
- Landscaping & Aesthetics: Addition of new trees and landscaping consistent with improvements made to Main Street east of Greenville Avenue.
- Streetscape Improvements: Upgraded hardscape features and new streetlights.
- Utility Upgrades: Oncor’s overhead power lines and poles will be replaced with underground conduits.
What to expect?
Traffic: During construction, at least one lane in each direction will remain open and access to businesses will be maintained. Motorists should expect traffic congestion on Main Street. Nearby roads and local streets may see increased traffic volumes.
Abrams Road: The width of travel lanes on Abrams Road will be reduced during construction to provide both northbound and southbound access. The City will be monitoring the intersection throughout the duration of the project to make sure the intersection functions safely. If necessary, partial closures may occur. Box trucks will be prohibited on Abrams Road during construction due to reduced lane width.
Water Service:
Temporary water service disruptions may occur. Residents and businesses will receive advance notice when disruptions are expected.
