Facilities Division

The Facilities Division is tasked with the comprehensive management and maintenance of government buildings and infrastructure. This includes overseeing the upkeep, repair, and renovation of facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards and to provide a functional environment for public service operations. The Division is responsible for facility planning, managing vendor contracts, and implementing sustainability initiatives, all aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of government facilities.

The Facilities Division is comprised of Facilities Maintenance and Custodial Services. Moreover, the Facilities Division is committed to ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and safety codes. It plays a pivotal role in emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that government buildings are equipped to address unforeseen events effectively. By maintaining safe and efficient facilities, the Facilities Division directly supports the mission of city departments through the timely maintenance of city assets in the highest state of readiness.

  • Facilities Maintenance

    The facilities maintenance section provides maintenance and repair of all building systems for over 1 million square feet of space in over 40 buildings. Maintenance technician positions have various technical skill sets, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. This section oversees contracted maintenance services.

  • Custodial

    Custodial services are provided through a hybrid process by internal custodial staff and an outsourced contractor. This section also provides setup for events within city facilities. The custodial team facilitates a pleasant environment for citizens to conduct their business with city personnel.


Fleet Division

The Fleet Division oversees the management of all city-owned vehicles to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This includes the procurement, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles, as well as the monitoring of usage and the implementation of policies aimed at optimizing fuel efficiency. Through effective fleet management, the department plays a crucial role in supporting essential public services through timely maintenance of city vehicles in the highest state of readiness.

The Fleet Division is comprised of fleet operations and materials management. Furthermore, the Fleet Division is committed to compliance with all applicable regulations. This emphasis on safety and accountability ensures that all personnel are equipped to operate government vehicles responsibly. By streamlining fleet operations and promoting best practices, the department significantly contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of government service delivery to the Community.

  • Fleet Operations

    Provides support to all City of Richardson Departments in all five aspects of fleet management. Fleet manages all vehicle assets from cradle to grave through vehicles acquisition, vehicle maintenance and repair, fuel management, administrative services, and vehicle disposition (auction). Fleet currently has ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technicians) certified technicians.

  • Materials Management (Warehouse)

    Our 11,000 square foot warehouse stores a wide variety of items to assist our departments, in their day-to-day operations. The warehouse manages inventories for all city departments including Facilities & Fleet, Public Services, Parks, Fire, and Police.

    Materials Management handles all auction aspects in coordination with the Purchasing Division of the Finance Department of all City surplus property. Also processes and handles stock items for all city programs including the Citizens Recycling Program. Finally, coordinates all logistics, distribution and replacement of inventory. Material Technicians facilitate distribution of central receiving operation.
