• Submit an Application for Driving Safety on or before the appearance date on your citation by 5:00 PM CST in person, in writing, or by submitting the Online Application.
• Enter a plea of No Contest or Guilty
• Have a valid Texas Driver's license or permit
• Have valid proof of Texas financial responsibility (insurance ID card)
• Not have taken a driving safety course for ticket dismissal within the past 12 months prior to the date of your citation.
• Pay $144.00, ($169.00 for school zone offense). (Payment must be made by the due date on the documentation mailed to you via United States Postal Service.)

• You hold a Commercial Driver’s License. 
• You were charged with speeding 25 miles per hour or more over the speed limit or traveling at a speed greater than or equal to 95 miles per hour. 
• You were charged with violating one of the following sections of the Transportation Code (TRC) of the State of Texas: 
  • TRC Sec. 472.022 - Construction or maintenance work zone when workers are present 
  • TRC Sec. 545.066 - Passing a school bus 
  • TRC Sec. 545.401 - Reckless driving 
  • TRC Sec. 545.421 - Fleeing or attempting to elude Police Officers 
  • TRC Sec. 550.022 - Accident involving damage to a vehicle 
  • TRC Sec. 550.023 - Duty to give information and render aid 
  • TRC Sec. 522.003 - Serious traffic violations

• Complete a state approved driving safety course and return all documentation listed below within 90 days. 
  • If you were operating a motorcycle at the time of the offense, you must complete a course under the motorcycle operator training and safety program approved by the state agency under Chap. 662, TRC.
  • If you were charged with a Child Safety Seat Violation, you must take a 6-hour Specialized Driving Safety Course that includes 4 hours of training related to the effectiveness of child passenger safety seat systems in reducing the harm to children, etc.
  • The Driving Safety Course is available in English and Spanish.

• Obtain a certified copy of your driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin. You may pick up a form at the court or download a form here (Driving Record Request Form). 
• Submit to the Court by your 90 day deadline: 

1. A COURT Certificate of Completion from a state-approved Driving Safety Court.
2. A Certified Copy of your Driving Record from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
