Richardson Municipal Court Safe Harbor Docket

The Safe Harbor Docket (also known as the “Walk-in” Docket or “Off” Docket or "Open" Docket) is held every Monday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. This open forum provides defendants with an opportunity to speak directly with the judge to resolve any outstanding matters pending in this Court.

No Risk of Arrest

Presiding Judge assures that individuals with outstanding warrants will not be arrested inside the courthouse if they voluntarily appear before the Court to discuss their case(s).

This docket is an excellent opportunity for defendants with active arrest warrants to:
✔ Speak with the judge about their legal options.
✔ Learn how to resolve their case(s).
✔ Understand the process to lift their arrest warrant(s) and avoid arrest if stopped by law enforcement.

Options for Resolving Your Case

Payment Plans

Defendants who plead “No Contest” and do not wish to invoke their right to trial may request a payment plan for fines, fees, and court costs. Payment plans typically do not exceed three months, though the judge may extend this period based on the total amount owed and the defendant’s financial situation.

Financial Hardship Consideration

Defendants who are indigent (unemployed and/or unable to pay fines) will have the opportunity to explain their financial situation to the judge. If the judge determines that a defendant is unable to pay, alternative options may be offered, such as:

  • Community service at a pre-approved non-profit organization.
  • Reduction of fines or community service hours in cases of extreme financial hardship, as allowed by state law.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Defendants who do not voluntarily take care of their warrants may be:
🚔 Arrested in any public place, on any public roadway, or at their workplace.
🚗 Subject to vehicle impoundment if arrested while driving.
🔒 Required to post bail before release from jail.

Take Advantage of This Opportunity

The Safe Harbor Docket allows individuals to address their court obligations in a safe environment, without fear of arrest. The Court is committed to working with each person individually to achieve compliance.
