The City of Richardson’s annual Family 4th Celebration was cancelled May 18, 2020, due to event logistics needs and public safety concerns related to the spread of COVID-19. At that time, alternate plans for a modified event were considered, but reduced lines of sight for viewing fireworks away from Breckinridge Park and traffic issues with no shuttle bus service option this year, contributed to this difficult decision.
However the fun isn’t going away, we are going virtual for a new kind of celebration! Join us as we celebrate Independence Day with a variety of activities throughout the week of June 29 - July 4.
Each day the City of Richardson will release a patriotic activity on our website and social media that you can enjoy at home with your family. Follow the City of Richardson Parks and Recreation Facebook page @RichardsonParksandRec for additional info.
Share your Celebration Photos with Us at #RichardsonFamily4th
Celebrate Independence Day with the City of Richardson by sharing your patriotic photos on Facebook or Instagram and using #RichardsonFamily4th. Capture a photo of your family participating in one of our activities, cooking out at home, enjoying an outdoor picnic or one of the many other ways you may celebrate July 4th. As a way to celebrate together as a community, the City of Richardson may select your photo to be a part of our Family 4th at Home recap video, which will be available to view on the website the week of July 6. Start taking those photos!
We bet you didn’t notice just how many patriotic themed items you have around your house, or outside? Print off and complete this scavenger hunt to see how many items you can find. You can even challenge your family members to see who can find the most!
