Richardson Parks and Recreation Department offers one of the finest and longest standing gymnastics programs in Texas with something for everyone. Recreation classes are geared toward students that want to have fun while trying to improve coordination, strength, flexibility and motor skills. The Richardson Gymnastics Team is for gymnasts that are interested in a serious but fun competitive experience. Our competitive teams are Level 2 through Level 10 with the upper level gymnasts working to earn a college scholarship. All gymnastics instructors have been thoroughly trained in the proper skill progressions and safety procedures. Classes are open to residents and non-residents. If your child is coming from another gymnastics program, he or she will be tested for proper placement.

Registration Information

REGISTERING
Click here to see our Class Schedule in the current Recreation Today Catalog. To enroll in a class, please call the gymnastics office at 972-744-7860.

If space is available, new students may enroll in classes at any time during the month or at the beginning of a new month. At the time of registration a 1-time $30/child enrollment fee is due along with the 1st month’s tuition. Monthly tuition is due by the last business day of the month for the upcoming month. Tuition must be paid to maintain a place in the class, even if the child misses a class.

PAYMENTS
Payments may be made over the phone (972-744-7860) or in person at Richardson Gymnastics Center. You may also set up recurring payments which will charge the last business day of each month.

WAITING LISTS
Some classes at Richardson Gymnastics Center are very popular, therefore waiting lists are created. To be placed on a waiting list, please call the gym. When a spot becomes available, a student has 24 hours to register for the class, or the spot will be given to the next person on the list.

Gymnastics Class Descriptions

Parent & Tot
This class is for 2-3 year old students who are not yet ready to be in class by themselves. The child must be accompanied by an adult willing to help the student follow the instructor’s direction. If the child is not potty trained they must wear a diaper.

3 Year Old
This class is for 3 year olds who are ready to take class without a parent. Student must be completely potty trained. Coordination, introduction to gymnastics equipment and skills, safety rules, and preparation for learning are some of the areas covered.

4-5 Year Old
This class is for children ages 4-5 that are not yet in kindergarten. Emphasis in the class is on coordination, beginning strength, flexibility positions, safety rules, and introduction to basic skills on gymnastics equipment. Students are grouped according to age, physical ability and skill level.

3-5 Year Old Evening Preschool
This class is for children ages 3-5 that are ready to participate by themselves. The student must be potty trained. Students will then go to the multi-purpose room, where they will work on all their other gymnastics skills. Children will be in an enclosed room during most of the class for their safety, and to provide a quiet learning environment.

5 Year Old Girls
The emphasis in this class is on coordination, beginning strength, flexibility, safety rules, and introduction of basic skills on equipment. This is a class for students who are in Kindergarten.

5-7 Year Old Boys
This class emphasizes coordination, strength, flexibility, safety rules, and introduction to basic skills on boys equipment. It is for boys ages 5 - 7 years old.

8-10 Year Old Boys
This is a beginner program for boys ages 8-10 who are interested in gymnastics. Beginner through advanced beginner skills are emphasized. Emphasis in the class is on coordination, strength, flexibility, safety rules, and the introduction of basic skills on boys equipment.

Girl Beginner Gymnastics
This class emphasizes beginner coordination, strength, flexibility, and gymnastics skills on all vault, bars, beam, floor, and trampoline.

Girls Intermediate Gymnastics
This class is for girls who have progressed through the beginner program and are ready to work on more advanced skills. THIS CLASS IS INSTRUCTOR RECOMMENDED ONLY.

Girls Advanced Gymnastics
The advanced girls program is a non-competitive program for gymnasts. This program is for those who have progressed through the beginner and intermediate programs and are ready to work on a more advanced level. THIS CLASS IS INSTRUCTOR RECOMMENDED ONLY.

Girls Pre-Team Program
Students need to be physically and emotionally ready for the pre-competitive program. Physical fitness, strength, flexibility, body awareness, and new skill achievement are some of the main areas stressed. THESE CLASSES ARE INSTRUCTOR RECOMMENDED ONLY.
