May is National Bike Month, a nationwide celebration promoted by the League of American Bicyclists and embraced by communities across the country. Since its establishment in 1956, National Bike Month has highlighted the many benefits of biking—whether for transportation, recreation, or overall well-being—and encouraged more people to give cycling a try.

Join in celebrating Bike Month! Participate in special events, hop on your bike for a trip to your favorite coffee shop, grocery store, or doctor’s appointment, and experience firsthand how biking can be an easy, fun, and sustainable way to get around. No matter how you ride, Bike Month is about celebrating the joy and benefits of cycling.

May 1 - June 30	Volunteer Counts	Join us in counting active transportation users and helping the City understand how popular different trails and bike lanes are today. Sign up here to participate!
May 3	National Ride a Bike Day	Kick off Bike Month by simply riding! Whether it’s around your neighborhood, to the park, or on a scenic trail, any ride is the right ride.
May 6	Bike & Roll to School	Encourage kids to start the day with an active commute and join in the fun yourself! by walking, rolling, or riding to school. Schools and PTA's can sign up through NCTCOG or at SRTS to receives event and giveaway items!
May 9	Bike Rodeo	A family-friendly event packed with fun and learning! Kids can practice their biking skills with certified instructors, while everyone gets tips on bike safety and maintenance. For more information, see Bike Rodeo
May 11 - 17	Bike to Work Week	Challenge yourself to commute by bike this week! Swap your car for two wheels and explore alternative transportation options. Join Try Parking It to log your trip and earn rewards for all alternative transportation options.
May 15	Bike to Work Day	Join DART and the City of Richardson at the CityLine Bush Station from 4-6 PM for an afternoon of free snacks and giveaways.
