The Parks and Recreation Commission advises the City Council by recommending projects and priorities for the development and improvement of parks and recreation areas.

The Park and Recreation Commission consists of 9 members and meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Parks & Recreation Administration at 972-744-4300.

ROLE OF THE COMMISSION:

  • The Parks and Recreation Commission serves in an advisory capacity to review, study and recommend priorities, projects and development.
  • Members are encouraged to do site visits throughout the year at their availability.
  • Recommends priorities and projects for park development in Richardson.

COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP:

  • Commission appointed by City Council.
  • Nine resident members.
  • At least one member must reside in each of Districts 1 through 4.
  • Two-year terms with a limit of four consecutive terms.

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY:

  • Must be a qualified voter.
  • Must have been a resident of Texas for at least one year.
  • Must be a Richardson resident for at least six months immediately prior to the date of appointment.
  • Must hold no elected public office.
  • Must not be in arrears in taxes or other liability due the City of Richardson.

MEETING FREQUENCY:

  • The commission is expected to meet monthly for eight months out of the year.
    • Meets second Tuesday of Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, March, April, June.
    • Sept meeting is generally an offsite tour of facilities.
  • Members are expected to attend at least 75% of scheduled meetings.
