The Tax Increment Financing Reinvestment Board makes recommendations to the City Council concerning development within Richardson’s three TIF zones.
ROLE OF THE BOARD:
- Makes recommendations to the governing body on the administration of the TIF provision Tax Code 311.
- Reviews and recommends candidate development projects for use of TIF fund support.
- Reviews the annual report to be submitted to the City Council and complies with requirements to the Texas Comptroller for TIF registry and reporting.
BOARD MEMBERSHIP:
- Board appointed by City Council.
- Five resident members.
- One Dallas County Representative for TIF #1.
- One Collin County Representative for TIF #2 and TIF #3.
- Two-year terms with a limit of four consecutive terms.
MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY:
- Must be a qualified voter.
- Must have been a resident of Texas for at least one year.
- Must be a Richardson resident for at least six months immediately prior to the date of appointment.
- Must hold no elected public office.
- Must not be in arrears in taxes or other liability due the City of Richardson.
MEETING FREQUENCY:
- The board is expected to meet three to four times a year.
- Members are expected to attend at least 75% of scheduled meetings.
