ANIMAL WELFARE 🐾

Animal Shelter Volunteer

Time spent at the shelter is a valuable part of keeping our dogs and cats clean and happy and provides a positive atmosphere and exceptional adoptions.

Doggy Day Out Program

Help our adoptable dogs get out of the shelter for a while and give them a chance to be out in the public in order to increase exposure and hopefully find a forever home!

Foster Program

Volunteers can foster cats or dogs needing temporary homes, helping with medical or behavioral care until adoption.

What kinds of tasks or duties will volunteers do?

Animal Shelter Volunteer	The duties in this program include dog walking, cat socialization, cleaning kennels, doing laundry, washing dishes, and other daily animal care tasks.
Boards & Commissions	The duties in this program include serving in an advisory capacity, examining in-depth issues such as park development and planning/zoning, making recommendations to City Council, and reviewing variance requests from citizens.
Christmas Parade	The duties in this program include assisting with the coordination and operation of the Christmas Parade by carrying division banners, supporting the check-in process for parade entries prior to the event, and walking alongside parade participants to help ensure safety guidelines are followed and an appropriate pace is maintained.
Corporate Cleanup Program	The duties in this program include cleaning up litter in parks, along streams, and in public areas.
Cottonwood Art Festival	The duties in this program include helping at the children’s Art Stop Area, taking tickets, managing supplies, and assisting children with art projects as needed.

Opportunities to assist with mailings, outbound calling for marketing and fundraising campaigns, and special projects are also available.

What happens if I’m no longer able to volunteer regularly?

Animal Shelter Volunteer	If a volunteer becomes inactive, they are removed from the registered volunteer roster.
Boards & Commissions	Volunteers may resign from their board position.
Christmas Parade	No formal action is taken for inactive volunteers.
Corporate Cleanup Program	No formal action is taken for inactive volunteers.
Cottonwood Art Festival	Since volunteering is event-based, participants are welcome to return whenever their schedule allows.
Doggy Day Out Program	If a volunteer becomes inactive, they are removed from the registered volunteer roster.
Eisemann Center Volunteers	Volunteers are placed on inactive status after 6 months without contact.
Foster Program	If a volunteer becomes inactive, they are removed from the registered volunteer roster.
Huffhines Harvest Fest / Pawtoberfest	Volunteers are welcome to return the following year as their schedule allows.
